DELHI – SHIMLA (B/-/-)

DAY 01 Pickup from hotel and transfer to New Delhi Railway station to board the Kalka Shatabdi Express to Kalka. On arrival connect with narrow gauge toy train Himalayan Queen (1200/1720 hrs) for Shimla, you will be met on arrival and transferred to hotel. Shimla - The summer Capital of the British in India and the state capital of Himachal Pradesh has well developed facilities, easy accessibility and numerous attractions making it one of India's most popular hill resorts. Situated in the lower ranges of the Himalayan mountains it is surrounded by pine deodar, oak and rhododendron forests. Towards the north lie the snow covered mountains, while the valleys breathes with whispering streams and swaying fields. Within the town are host of splendid colonial edifices, quaint cottages and charming walks. Shimla offers a variety of shopping, sport and entertainment activities.

 

DAY02: SHIMLA (B/-/-)

Morning visit Kufri situated at an altitude of 2500 meters just an hour drive from Shimla known for beautiful meadows, apple orchards & Zoo which hosts rare Antelopes, Felines and species of birds including Himalayan Monal, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh . Later in the afternoon drive back to Shimla take a walking tour of city, visit the Jakoo hills that offer a panoramic view of the town, Vice Regal Lodge and walk down the Mall Road.

 

DAY03: SHIMLA – MANALI (B/-/-)

Morning drive to Manali (274 Kms/07 Hours) a picture-perfect hill resort at an altitude of 1,929 metres. Manali is a picture-perfect hill resort at an altitude of 1,929 metres & is situated near the end of the valley on the National Highway leading to Leh. The landscape here is breath taking one sees well-defined snow capped peaks and the Beas River with its clear water meandering through the town. On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields and fruit orchards. It is an excellent place for a holiday, a favorite resort for trekkers to Lahul, Spiti, Bara Bhangal (Kangra) and the Zanskar ranges. From temples to antiquity, to picturesque sight-seeing spots and adventure activities, Manali is a popular resort for all seasons and for all travellers.

 

DAY04: MANALI (B/-/-)

Morning walking tour of Manali, visiting the 450 years old temple dedicated to Hadimba Devi, which has some excellent woodcarvings. You also visit the Tibetan Monastery and the handicraft centre. The rest of the day at leisure OR walk to the nearby picturesque village of Vashist known for its hot sulphur springs.

 

DAY05: MANALI (B/-/-)

Undertake a breathtaking drive to the Rohtang Jot (Pass), located 51 Kms/03-04 Hours from Manali at an altitude of 3978 meters (subject to favourable weather & road conditions). Rohtang offers amazing panoramic views of the snow covered mountains. The pass is open from June to October each year although trekkers can cross it earlier. It is a gateway to Lahul Spiti, Pangi and Leh valley just as Zojila pass is a gateway to Ladakh. There are beautiful sights of glaciers, peaks and the Chandra River that flows down in the Lahul valley. On the way back visit Solang Valley which is a skier’s paradise in the winter months of December to February and is a gorgeous dale, stuck between Beas Kund and Solang village. A key draw for adventure lovers, this amazing area offers challenging activities like mountain Horse riding, Paragliding, Skiing and Zorbing.

For high mountain thrills perhaps nothing can surpass the magic of heli-skiing. The sport is available in the area bound by Hanuman Tibba, Rohtang Pass, Deo Tibba and Chandrakhani Pass. A major feature is the compactness of heli skiing area - a sortie of ten minutes can carry the skiers to the top of a 14000 feet high slope.

 

DAY06: MANALI – CHANDIGARH (B/-/-)

This morning drive to Chandigarh (272 Kms/07 Hours). Chandigarh, the beautiful capital of Punjab and Haryana, is on the edge of the Shivalik Hills, the outermost edge of the Himalayas.

 

DAY07: CHANDIGARH – DELHI (B/-/-)

Morning drive to Chandigarh. Afternoon sightseeing of Chandigarh which is the best-planned city of India that was designed by renowned French architect Le Corbusier, you will visit the Rock Garden as well as the Sukhna Lake. Evening transfer to Chandigarh railway station in time to board the train for Delhi.

 

DAY08: DEPART DELHI (B/-/-)

Morning is at leisure till the time transfer to New Delhi airport for flight to onward destination.
