DAY 1

Met upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU CITY ORIENTATION TOUR:  Proceed for a City drive by major landmarks such as the State and City mosque, Tg. Aru Beach and the highest building, Tun Mustapha Tower.  Enjoy some leisure time mingling with the local people at the Handicraft market.  Complete your Kota Kinabalu experience with a visit to a local watervillage home.

DAY 2

BORNEO TRADITIONAL LIVING: Capture the cultural diversity of Borneo’s ethnic groups and their simple way of traditional living. Each tribe have found ways to adapt to living in Borneo such as cooking using bamboo, starting a fire without matches. making ropes from tree bark and using local plants to create a refreshing drink.  Discover the architectural uniqueness of each tribal house as you walk through the cultural village while enjoying the serene jungle environment. Complete your Borneo experience with a live presentation of music and dance and savor traditional cuisine unique to Sabah.

The jagged granite peaks of Mt. Kinabalu (4095m) towers above one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world and is nominated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site

 

Option A

DAY 3:  KINABALU PARK & KUNDASANG WAR MEMORIAL GARDENS

Vist the Mountain Garden at the Kinabalu Park and enjoy the cool mountain air as you walk the trails.  Visit the Kundasang War memorial, made up of the Australian, English, Borneo & Contemplation Garden and Pool. Visitors can also opt to view a brief video on the history of the Sandakan Death March   Meals: B, L, D.   Overnight at Kundasang

 

DAY 4:  TEA PLANTATION, KG. LUANTI & PORING HOT SPRINGS

Visit the Sabah tea Plantation and stop by Kampung Luanti to learn how the villagers are conserving their rivers using the "tagal" system. Option to enjoy a fish massage at the river. Trek through the rainforest and witness life in the treetops as you walk along the 100ft high Canopy Walkway at Poring Hot Springs.                             Meals: B, L.   Overnight at Le Meridien

NOTE: Tea factory visit is not available on weekends & Pub Hols.  If the Poring Canopy walkway is closed for maintenance,  then will be replaced by Tropical Garden. Visit to nearby Rafflesia plots at their guest's expense if the flower is in bloom

 

Option B

DAY 3:  CLIMB TO MT. HUT  (3,300m)

Transfer to Kinabalu Park Headquarters for climbing registration before proceeding to Timpohon Gate, starting point of the summit trail. Shelters with water tanks and basic toilet facilities are available at regular intervals along the trail.    Meals: B, BoxL, D              

Overnight at the mountain huts(basic, hostel-type with communal bathrooms; non-heated). 

 

DAY 4: FINAL ASCEND TO SUMMIT (4,095m)

Depart mountain hut at 3am for final ascend to Low’s Peak – the summit of Mt. Kinabalu. Enjoy spectacular views at sunrise and on a clear day, glimpses of Kota Kinabalu and the South China Sea, in the distance. Descend to Timpohon Gate before returning to Kota Kinabalu.

IMPORTANT NOTICE  for OPTION B:  2D1N MT. CLIMB

Mt. Kinabalu climb is not recommended for those with weak heart condition, fear of heights, difficulty in breathing at high altitudes, physically unfit etc. This includes Hypertension * Diabetes * Palpitation * Arthritis * Peptic Ulcers * Severe Anemia * Heart Disease * Chronic Asthma * Obesity * Hepatitis * Epileptic Fits * Muscular Cramps.

 

DAY 5

ISLAND PARADISE: Sun, sea, sand. Take a 15-minute boat ride to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park for a day of some serious relaxation. Swim or snorkel in the blue South China Sea. Or just settle down with a good book

DAY 6

Transfer out to catch flight home

Meals: B.
